Music

Life in Hudson Falls is extremely busy today. It's around the
the early 1900's. Automobiles are around but the good old horse
is the main means of transportation. Some people were shopping,
others were indulging on pastries, and the rest were waiting for
the annual Christmas parade. The aroma of hot chocolate filled
the air. That's where I met Mr Bakeman. He was standing in line
for drinks to warm our cold bodies up. As we where waiting for
our turn, I began a conversation with him. Almost immediately I
could sense that maybe this was the family I was Looking for.
After we got our drinks Mr Bakeman took me over to meet the rest
of the family, while they where waiting for the parade. Mrs Bakeman
was simply charming, making me at ease almost instantly. The
Children where off playing. I started with the basic questions.
Like how long have they lived in Hudson Falls, where Mr Bakeman
worked, and questions along those lines. As it turned out Mr Bakeman
was born and raised here. His parents are still running the farm
in the suburbs. Mrs Bakeman was from Ohio.

As we watched the parade pass by, I couldn't help but notice the
joy in the children's eyes. Even the youngest, age three was totally
fascinated with the floats, the marching bands, and of course Santa
Claus. The Parade lasted about an hour. As the end was coming Mr
Bakeman invited me back to the house for dinner. I graciously
accepted, asked for the address and left to finish my errands.
I had to get my article on the day's events ready for print. The Mrs
said to come around 6:00 pm. After the time was set I left to finish
my day's work. All I could think was what a nice family showing the
warmth, love, and togetherness that is so often lost in these busy times.

On the way to the Bakeman's I stopped, picked up a bottle of Brandy,
to offer as an after dinner drink. I just couldn't see going empty
handed. While I was waiting for someone to answer the doorbell, I noticed
the children coming up the driveway. Jacob, the oldest, said hello and told
me they had been ice skating.
